Kinga Głyk
Kinga Glyk performed for an enthusiastic audience as she marked International Women’s Day at Cosmopolite in 2024, and the dynamic bassist will be back on April 10, 2025!
Glyk released her new album "Real Life" in 2024, which has since received fantastic reviews. The star herself has stated that she wanted an album led by the bass, but not a "bassist album." Glyk stated: “Music can be interesting and strong enough in itself to touch the heart, even without lyrics.”
“The tension builds up and is released... culminating in music that is both groovy and emotionally resonant.” - The Jazz World
The album is produced by the bassist herself and Michael League, who has won the GRAMMY Award five times. It features a star-studded lineup of musicians, including Robert "Sput" Searight, Casey Benjamin, Brett Williams, Nicholas Semrad, Julian Pollack, Celeb Sean McCambell, and Grégoire Maret.
“An album infused by European jazz and American funk, transcending these genres to create a unique narrative voice.” - The Jazz World
Glyk is both a bassist and bandleader who has performed in Norway during Maijazz to amazing reviews, and she has already shared the stage with bassist emeritus Marcus Miller as a guest at his concert.
“Kinga’s musical abilities have made her a part of Polish jazz history.” - Adam Makowicz
The 27-year-old bassist Kinga Glyk is regarded as the best Polish bass musician of her generation and is a rising star on the jazz and blues scene. She began her music career at the age of 12 in the family band Glyk P.I.K. TRIO.
“One of the most interesting bassists of the young generation.” - Jazz Forum
Glyk’s releases have come in quick succession, from her debut album "Rejestracja" in 2015, to "Happy Birthday" in 2016, and "Dream" in 2015 - recorded with Warner Music. On the album, we hear some of the world’s most famous musicians: Greg Hutchinson (drums), Tim Garland (saxophone), and Nitai Hershkovits (piano). Glyk’s latest album, “Feelings,” was released in 2019, also on Warner Music. “Real Life” is her fifth studio album.
“Kinga is incredibly talented, musical, and has fantastic energy!” - Grzegorz Kapolka
