Soft Machine

The legendary band Soft Machine has existed for over fifty years and is considered one of the leading avant-garde/jazz-rock bands in the UK. The band is in constant metamorphosis - see them now while they are on a musical high!

Soft Machine has released the album "Other doors" and is therefore out on tour! A couple of years earlier, they also came out with the critically acclaimed live album "Live at the Baked Potato".

“No band of this vintage has any right to sound so fearless and so fierce! Don't miss them.” - PROG Magazine

The current reincarnation of Soft Machine consists of four musicians who are determined to preserve the spirit of the bath by constantly going on musical adventures. The line-up moves from powerful jazz fusion to atmospheric psychedelic - to free and improvised jazz-rock, to create a unique soundscape that is totally contemporary.

"Unconventional music... A triumph that they still play with such high complexity and are so dynamic. Old music, but with a young heart.” - DPRP.net

The band consists of guitarist Jon Etheridge, who played in Soft Machine in the 70s, and was part of making the albums "Softs", "Alive and Well" and "Triple Echo". Bassist is Fred Thelonious Baker, who has been part of the Canterbury scene for over 30 years. Drummer Asaf Sirkis is a recognized musician on an international level - praised by Robert Wyatt! The saxophonist is star Theo Travis - who has played with Robert Fripp, David Gilmour and Steven Wilson in the past.

Soft Machine plays material from the era of Hugh Hopper, Mike Ratledge and Karl Jenkins and material from their joint studio albums.

“The current incarnation of the band is actually pretty darn good!” - Jazz Journal
