Djangofestivalen 2026
Cosmopolite, Oslo — 22–24 January

Since 1980, the legendary gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt has been celebrated in Norway with a dedicated festival — a tradition that has now been adopted in more than 50 countries. The festival takes place at Cosmopolite in Oslo, and in 2026 it will be held from 22 to 24 January.

As always, Jon Larsen — the festival’s founder and longtime driving force — will be the evening’s host.

The festival presents string music, swing, string swing and gypsy jazz, featuring both international guests and Norwegian musicians. Audiences can expect concerts, jam sessions, and heartfelt tributes to Django’s musical legacy — both in traditional form and through fresh, innovative interpretations.

Sébastien Giniaux & Joris Viquesnel Duo (FR)

Line-up:
Sébastien Giniaux – guitar
Joris Viquesnel – guitar

Sébastien Giniaux (solo guitar) and Joris Viquesnel (rhythm guitar)

Sébastien Giniaux and Joris Viquesnel met around twenty years ago, and have been playing together ever since. Their friendship is built through music — or rather, through musical expression — as they share an openness that allows them to explore a wide range of genres. From Django Reinhardt’s jazz to Balkan music, classical repertoire, chanson and African rhythms, these influences shape Sébastien’s compositions and remain a musical playground they continue to explore together.

Their project In The Arms of Windmills is the result of years of collaboration and mutual understanding. Like musical Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, they tilt at the increasingly uniform “windmills” of the music industry, in search of freedom, creativity and true artistic expression.

Fanou Torracinta Quartet + guest Fiona Monbet (FR)

Line-up:
Fanou Torracinta – guitar
Bastien Brison – piano
Benji Winterstein – rhythm guitar
Édouard Pennes – double bass

+guest Fiona Monbet – violin

Fanou Torracinta is a virtuoso guitarist from Corsica, deeply rooted in the music of Django Reinhardt and the island’s rich musical heritage. He has performed with some of the leading names in gypsy jazz, combining technical brilliance with passionate playing and melodic elegance. Together with Édouard Pennes, Benji Winterstein and Bastien Brison, the quartet creates a sound full of energy, swing and virtuosity — balancing tradition with modern improvisation.

For this concert, the quartet is joined by Belgian violinist Fiona Monbet, adding colour, depth and an extra dimension to the ensemble’s sound. Audiences can expect a performance full of playfulness, interplay and musical passion — where every note reflects both precision and pure joy in performance.
