Nils Petter Molvær: BItches Brew

It’s not only Oslo Jazz Festival celebrating an anniversary this year — it is also 100 years since Miles Davis was born. And that, of course, calls for a celebration.

To mark the occasion, Nils Petter Molvær has assembled an all-star lineup to perform Davis’ album Bitches Brew, one of the most important records in jazz history.

On the 1970 double album Bitches Brew, Davis stirred together jazz, rock, and funk as the main ingredients, creating a powerful foundation for the fusion genre. With a legendary lineup featuring Wayne Shorter, Joe Zawinul, John McLaughlin, Chick Corea, and Jack DeJohnette among others, the result was a bold and explosive brew that sent shockwaves through the music world.

To recreate that hypnotic and electrifying Miles soundscape, Molvær has brought together an exceptional ensemble consisting of Kristina Fransson, André Roligheten, Marte Eberson, Jon Balke, Hedvig Mollestad, Audun Erlien, Veslemøy Narvesen, and Gard Nilssen.

Expect a full stage and a full celebration as festival week at Cosmopolite comes to a cosmic close.
