Margareth Menezes

For the very first time, Margareth Menezes will perform in Norway. On October 24, she takes the stage at Cosmopolite in Oslo – a rare opportunity to experience one of the most important voices in Afro-Brazilian music live.

Menezes has been a central figure in Brazilian cultural life for over three decades, both as an artist and as a champion of Afro-Brazilian identity and music. She is considered a leading representative of Brazilian Afropop – a genre that blends traditional Afro-Brazilian rhythms with modern styles such as samba-reggae, axé, and pop.

Based in Salvador da Bahia, Margareth Menezes has released 17 albums and toured in more than 30 countries. She has collaborated with artists like Gilberto Gil, Carlinhos Brown, and Caetano Veloso, and currently serves as Brazil’s Minister of Culture. Her latest album, Autêntica, which was nominated for a Latin GRAMMY, marks a powerful milestone in her long career while also pointing toward new musical directions.

The concert in Oslo is part of her international tour, and the program includes both new material and key tracks from her extensive catalogue. Audiences will also hear her personal interpretations of songs by artists such as Os Tincoãs, Roberto Mendes, and João Donato.
