Kurt Elling SUPERBLUE feat. Charlie Hunter

The Chicago-based jazz vocalist Kurt Elling has expanded the parameters of jazz vocals and enlarged the vocabulary of jazz vocal. He will perform at Cosmopolite on May 9th and serve the audience an unforgettable concert.

“Our time's leading male jazz vocalist” - The New York Times

Together with guitarist Charlie Hunter, he has released the EP SuperBlue: The Iridescent Spree – a follow-up to the album Superblue (2021) – a kaleidoscope of new songs, surprising covers, and dynamic reinventions.

“Truly magical... remarkable work” - Jazzwise
“Kurt Elling is a phenomenon” - The Herald

Charlie Hunter contributes to the LP with his hybrid guitar – an incredible instrument that allows him to play bass, rhythm, and lead simultaneously, as he circles back to play a melody.

“Hunter's astonishing virtuosity allows him to swing like a full ensemble” - Tinnitist

Kurt Elling has won a GRAMMY award twice, has performed at the International Jazz Day several times, and sang with Marvin Hamlisch and the National Symphony Orchestra for President Obama's first State Dinner.

“Kurt Elling's four-octave range and effortlessly swinging style... often remind one of Frank Sinatra” - The Guardian

Elling is particularly recognized for creating a strong connection between poetry and music. He conveys timeless songs from the Great American Songbook, but often reinterprets the songs in collaboration with his band. Which is why the Guardian calls him “A kind of Sinatra with superpowers”!
