Judith Hill

Judith Hill captured the audience at Cosmopolite in 2023, when she brilliantly performed both with vocals, elgitar and piano, dressed up like a true rockstar in her bodysuit sprinkled with glitter! Perhaps somewhat unconventional for such an artist; she had both her mother and father on stage as musicians!

Now she is back, with the new album “Letters from a Black Widow” (2024) - a processing of Hill's traumas after her collaborators and idols Michael Jackson and Prince suffered tragic deaths. The album is a battlecry, conveyed with passion through soul, funk, and gospel.

“Triumphant... With ‘Letters From A Black Widow,’ Judith Hill takes back the narrative of her own life” - Rock and Blues Muse

The lyrics feel like a liberation from the demons in her psyche that Hill has carried for a while. Musically, the blues-soul artist has created some truly funky grooves on this album!

“Her voice is impressive, with a vocal range that will shake you to your core.” - Rock and Blues Muse

Bluebird Reviews praises Hill in a review of the album: “Over the last two decades of music, it has been difficult to find anyone capable of inheriting the teachings of the great African American songbook in its entirety as much as the singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and Grammy Award-winner Judith Hill has.”

“A generational talent” - Rock and Blues Muse

Judith Hill's band consists of her parents, bassist Robert "Peewee" Hill and keyboardist Michiko Hill, drummer John Staten, and guitarist Daniel Chae, while a group of friends serves as backing singers.

Come and experience an even stronger Judith Hill this May 22 at Cosmopolite. We conclude with the following quote from Arts Fuse: “A powerful performer emerges in this ambitious album, which is about being publicly ostracized and scorned – and coming back stronger.”
