Dario Napoli Trio (IT/FR) feat. Benji Winterstein
Line up:
Dario Napoli – guitar
Benji Winterstein – rhythm guitar
Tonino De Sensi – double bass
Florin Niculescu Quartet (FR)
Line up:
Florin Niculescu – violin
Yves Brouqui – guitar
Bruno Rousselet – double bass
Yoann Serra – trommer
Florin Niculescu is a super violinist from Romania who has played at the Django Festival many times in different formations, as a guest, soloist and in different bands. Last year he took our breath away when he spontaneously played with more bands than planned, including performing with Jimmy Rosenberg. At the age of six, Florin started at the George Enescu Music Academy in Bucharest and won first prize. At the age of twelve, he heard Stéphane Grappelli on the radio and instantly knew that this was the style of music he was meant to play. Since then, Niculescu has had a long career, with many orchestras, philharmonics, played at Carnegie Hall and was named "Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters" by the French Ministry of Culture. "With Florin Niculescu, jazz in France finally has the successor to Grappelli that we have been waiting for." - Michel Bedin Magazine Jazz hot.
Nitcho Reinhardt Trio (FR) plays Friday + Saturday at Belleville! Jam session starts at 11:00 PM both days.
Line up:
Nicho Reinhardt – guitar
Sébastien Félix – guitar
Estéban Félix – double bass
Nitcho Reinhardt is a French string swing guitarist and composer who returns to the Django Festival to perform, this time with a jam session at Belleville! Reinhardt started playing guitar when he was 15. His view of string swing is that it is a living genre of music, best experienced live – by being listened to and shared with an audience. Reinhardt builds on the legacy of Django Reinhardt, and has released three studio albums: "Latcho Dykk" (2008), "Une Historie" (2011) and "Geronimo" (2018).
Joining Reinhardt on the jam session is guitarist Sébastien Félix with his son Estéban Félix playing double bass. Sébastien Félix has performed at a number of festivals in Europe and the United States, such as "Django à Gogo" in New York and he has been the artistic director of the "Go! Django" festival, in Sergy, France, near Geneva. Sébastien plays his new Favino guitar from 1957 and his talents are displayed in different styles: Gypsy jazz, bossa nova, swing waltz...
