Line up:
Ola Erlien – guitar
Gildas Le Pape – guitar
Finn Hauge – violin and harmonica
Svein Aarbostad – double bass
+ Guest: Adrien Marco - guitar

Hot Club de Norvège is a jazz quartet and perhaps Norway's most famous string swing band. The group has been serving swinging tones to an enthusiastic audience since its founding in 1979. The band has a unique ability to bring in new musicians and vocalists as guests at performances, and this concert is no exception! Guest for the concert will be announced later. Founding member of the band, Svein Arbostad is still with us, and stands for the fundamental tone of the band with his solid bass tones. French super guitarist Gildas Le Pape joined in 2018 and has a background from the metal band Satyricon. Multi-instrumentalist Finn Hauge plays violin and harmonica while the young and talented guitarist Ola Erlien has taken the Norwegian swing scene by storm! Hot Club de Norvège has collaborated with most artists in international django music today and is undoubtedly an audience favorite – thanks to their infectious playing joy and virtuoso string music.

ARBAT (FR)

A Russian-French group that plays string swing and jazz music, founded by guitarist Pascal De Loutchek and singer Lila Roos Dalskaia. Arbat performed at the Django Festival in 2022 and then also played after Hot Club de Norvège. We let the review in Ballade.no speak for itself: “Arbat plays Russian gypsy ballads, danceable, party-around-the-fire standards, which go slowly and fast, often from slow to fast. Today, the three musicians and two dancers are on stage. (…) It is a nicely programmed double concert. Arbat is a very good contrast to Hot Club … We get music from the East as opposed to the West. We get colorful dresses in motion as opposed to polite shirt collars. (…) The violinist Costel Nitescu from Romania, the real deal, one of the best on the market I read later, surpasses the other two musicians. In addition to being the best, he delivers a few details that I noticed. On a song where the bassist has to play guitar because the guitarist is sick, the violinist picks up the double bass and decides that the bass is more important for the dance than the solo violin. Cool! There is a standing ovation. And during that applause, while he bows, and everyone bows, Costel strums Grieg's Norwegian Dance No. 2 on the fiddle. A sweet detail to round it all off with. »
