Oslo Internasjonale Flamenco festival

The Oslo International Flamenco Festival (OIFF) proudly marks its 9th edition in 2025, presenting a compelling theme: "Evolution: Flamenco – The Next Generation." This year's program delves into the delicate interplay between tradition and innovation, showcasing how younger generations are redefining flamenco while paying homage to its profound cultural heritage.

Flamenco, as a dynamic art form, serves as a powerful medium for introspection, cultural dialogue, and societal impact. The festival underscores its transformative capacity, spotlighting amazing diverse talents whose work reflects flamenco's ability to evolve and remain relevant in a rapidly shifting world.

The program prioritizes the elevation of world famous young artists from varied cultural backgrounds, emphasizing their critical role in shaping flamenco's trajectory.

The event at Cosmopolite Scene on April 6th will unfold in two acts:

  • Zarandeando Flamenco for Kids (13:30 - 14:15):

This is the third edition of a unique space created for and by children and young audiences—a vibrant, interdisciplinary encounter that bridges the roots of flamenco from north to south. Through this performance, young audiences will have the opportunity to explore the rhythmic dynamism and emotional depth of flamenco. The program presents an exciting lineup of talented young performers, including this year's discovery from the Jerez Flamenco Festival.

In collaboration with Barataria Teater, a renowned theater group established in Oslo since 2017, the performance will be presented in both Norwegian and Spanish. We warmly welcome everybody. The performance will last approximately 45 minutes.

Through its focus on artistic innovation and cultural continuity, the Oslo International Flamenco Festival aspires to deepen our understanding of flamenco as a living, breathing art form—rooted in history but perpetually looking forward.

When we think about evolution we actually want to share: Evolution is the quiet pulse of life, a natural rhythm where growth and transformation intertwine. It is the deepening of roots and the blossoming of new branches, reflecting the spirit's endless capacity to adapt and rise. In human beings, it is the journey of becoming—grounded in tradition yet open to change. A poetic dance of continuity and renewal, it speaks to the sacred balance of honoring the past while embracing the future.
