Baba Soul & The Professors of Funk is a band made up of eight groovy musicians on guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, tenor saxophone, trumpet, and trombone, with the charismatic Baba Soul aka Hugo Pereira in the lead. Hugo is a man with "moves" that you have to experience! The band rocked Cosmopolite last fall, and we are already ready for a new concert – this time with guests!

DJ Correct will play before the concert, and there will be an afterparty in the lobby bar Bar Souk after the concert! A complete experience for those who love soul and related genres.

"Give people what they want" is the motto of Baba Soul & The Professors of Funk, and what they give people is funk and "old school" soul. The band's inspirations include James Brown and the JB’s, Otis Redding, Booker T, George Clinton, and Kool and The Gang.

The band has participated in Norske Talenter and has been the house band for the TV show Senkveld. In 2017, they released their debut album "Chronotapes," featuring a mix of original songs. Baba Soul & The Professors of Funk have played on countless stages and festivals, delivering as always powerful 60s and 70s inspired funk and soul songs in a fresh and contemporary way.

Styles such as jazz, gospel, blues, hip-hop, RnB, and afro-beat inspire the band. The evening at Cosmopolite is dedicated to the soul genre – and we promise it will be "old school"! A night delivering medicine for the heart, soul, body, and mind!
