The New York Ska-Jazz Ensemble (NYSJE) is an internationally renowned recording and touring group. Since the band’s inception in 1994, they have released five CD’s and they have performed regularly throughout Europe, Canada, USA, and South America.

NYSJE’s recordings and performances have garnered them critical acclaim for their high energy, creative originals, kinetic ska interpretations of jazz standards, as well as their potent mix of dance hall, reggae, rock steady and jazz. Performance highlights include: The North Sea Jazz Festival (Netherlands), Dour Festival (Belgium), Printemps de Bourges (France), Summer Jam & Reggae Jam (Germany), Rototom Sunsplash (Italy), Rock For People Festival (Czech Republic), Pohoda Festival (Slovakia), Mare de Agosto (Portugal), Augustibuller Festival (Sweden) The Montreal Jazz Festival (Canada), The Quebec Festival de Musique (Canada), Musiques en été (Switzerland), The Bob Marley Reggae Festival with Israel Vibration and Sister Carol, and The Discover and Bell Atlantic Jazz festivals in the U.S. In addition, NYSJE has the singular distinction of being the first American Ska band to play in Poland after the wall came down.

The band had been featured in Downbeat, Reggae Nucleus, The Beat, Ragga Magazine and Jazziz magazines. NYSJE’ s music can be heard regularly on television-- on the Nickelodeon network, MTV’s “Road Rules”, as well as two nationally airing Campbell’s Soup Commercials. In Italy, their video, “Properly,” airs on MTV.

NYSJE’ s albums are distributed by Stomp Records in Canada, Megalith Records in U.S.A, Grover Records (Germany), Alternative (Italy), Brixton Records (Spain) & Mosaic Music Distribution (France) in Europe. The past summer (07) the band stormed through Europe once again playing 43 shows in 19 countrys (Hungary, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, Slovenia, England, Spain, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Lithuania, Serbia, Croatia & Italy).

NYSJE’s new studio album (Step Forward) have been released in NYC/USA during in July 2008.
