Oslo Kulturnatt: AySay
In Luna Ersahin’s voice, rests a story of the whole person in a composite world. In Turkish, Danish and Kurdish, she creates a fascinating universe in AySay together with Aske Døssing Bendixen and Carl West Hosbond.
In the tension between Anatolia’s musical traditions, hand-played instruments and electronic productions, AySay’s unique expression arises. For the active listener, AySay’s music is colorful, interwoven and surprising. For the dancing listener, the music will be enthralling, groovy and uplifting.
“Unforgettable” – GAFFA
The band from Aarhus celebrates diversity in a divided world – by creating a melting pot of sounds and languages. The band has gathered instruments from all over the world, such as saz, clarinet, oud, violin and different Middle eastern flutes.
“It’s utterly majestic” – ROOTSWORLD
AySays debut album Su Akar is a Turkish idiom meaning that when water flows, it finds its way. The main character of the band is front vocalist Luna Ersahin, who according to Rootsworld has «a charismatic voice that can swiftly move from sensual teasing through to full-blooded ululation, with the kind of timble that captures the ear.”
In 2023 Aysay is launching the album ’KÖY’, meaning «village» in Turkish.
