Tin Pan Aliens Hans Ulrik / Steve Swallow / Jonal Johansen

This internationally acclaimed trio is now four years old. The project was launched in spring 2002 with a tour and CD recording in Scandinavia, followed up by more tours and recordings in the years to follow. During the summer tour 2005 the trio also played the Montreal Jazz Festival in Canada.
This is a trio that evokes warm smiles on listener's lips. Intensity, playful interaction, humor on the highest artistic level, is some of the elements in their compelling music.

Another element is the story of a meeting between generations. Steve Swallow, the experienced American jazz legend, whose merits go all the way back to his time with Benny Goodman, meets two youngish European jazz names.

But most of all it is a story of fresh, rare trio music that sounded just right from the very beginning It was immediately clear that this was group in the most collective sense of the word. Swallow had no intention to be just another big jazz star hired to shine on a couple of local heroes. He wished to make good music in equality. This is also seen in the fact that he contributed with 4 compositions especially written for the trio on each of the two CDs (TRIO Stunt Records STUCD 02122, and TIN PAN ALIENS Stunt Records STUCD 05022).
